Those alerts can be sent via text, phone call, and email. Your child never needs to pick up his or her phone, since the Bluetooth-enabled device pushes out the alert itself.

As a parent, I can download the free Silent Beacon app. This gives me the ability to pinpoint my child’s location in real-time, thanks to GPS technology. And with the free app, I can toggle between map and satellite views.

In the event of an emergency, my son can enable the two-way communication feature, and he and I can talk as he waits for help to arrive.

These third-party charges provide call center access, because instead of directly contacting emergency personnel yourself, these companies will connect you with an operator. The operator will then assess your situation and contact the ambulance, police, fire company, etc.
