Stephen Rampur
Wireless headphones are devices that enable us to listen to music without wires connected to the music source. But what causes them to work without wires?
Nowadays, though many people use wireless headphones, they know to make the headphones operational, but don't know about the actual working system.

Wireless headphones are technological gifts which enable us to listen to music without wires. They can be used on any source like a CD/DVD player, television, computer, or MP3 player.

However, they can't be directly connected with these sources, but use radio or infrared frequencies to communicate with the base station devices of the headphones.
Their sound quality or sound-providing capacity principally depends on the range in which they are effective. It simply means that if you go away from the signal range of the base station, you'll get a blurred output or no sound at all.
When these headphones were first launched, they were really expensive, but as time passed and several companies used this technology, the price reduced considerably.
With the increasing popularity of these headphones, electronic manufacturing companies have thought of and are working on inventing new technologies which have enhanced technologies incorporated in them, such as radio, infrared, Bluetooth, etc.
Wireless headphone technology employs three devices, the transmitter, stereo, and headphones. As it's a wireless technology, you obviously don't need to connect the headphones directly to the stereo to listen to music.
Working of Wireless Headphones
You need to connect the transmitter to the stereo by plugging in the cable in either the headphone input or any other audio output connection. Such wireless technology may utilize either radio frequencies or infrared for carrying out the operation of the signals.
If the headphones are using infrared technology, they need to be in direct wireless sight of the transmitter without any obstruction as the IR technology is entirely based on light.
In the case of radio technology, the transmitter doesn't require a direct line of sight, as the frequencies are less directional as compared to IR.
Such frequencies can be received from several angles and positions, no matter how far the headphones are from the transmitter. The signals can even be received in other rooms.
However, other electronic equipment which are incorporated with a system that utilizes same radio signals, such as cordless phones, may become a disturbance in the reception of its frequencies.
If both the wireless headphones and any of such cordless devices are turned on at the same time, the signals sent by the transmitter would be received by both devices, which may cause output disturbances.
As soon as the headphone antenna picks up the frequency, the current from the frequencies is transferred to the dynamic drivers which are present in both the right and left headphones.
These drivers are responsible for removing any noise disturbances from the frequencies, after which the signal is sent to the speakers. The electromagnets in the speakers then generate vibrations on the membrane of the speaker, which are eventually sent to the ears as a pleasant sound.
There are many wireless headphones available in the market offered by several companies at a very competitive prices, and loaded with advanced features and functions. If you need to enjoy quality music, and that too by wireless means, simply go to the local electronic shop and buy one for yourself.
