Well, not anymore. Here are the procedures of blocking phone numbers on an iPhone so as to not receive unwanted calls.
How to Block Numbers on iPhone
Firstly, your iPhone needs to be jailbroken, if you want to get a phone number blocked. What's more, you need to install an application that has appropriate settings for doing the same. There are two extremely good applications called iBlacklist and Google Voice App for this purpose.
iBlacklist
With the help of this app, you can block phone numbers, as well as text messages too. What's more, it comes with a scheduler so that you know when it is possible for a person to reach you, and when it is not.
To start with, download this application for free from the Cydia Store.
Open it, and tap the screen in order to enable the app by selectingblacklist.
Enter the number you want to block. You can also go to your phonebook, and then select the numbers that you wish to bar.
Click on the Add to List option, and put all the selected numbers in the blacklist.
Select Settings Calls, and choose hang up, ignore the call, or no action; whichever option you would prefer for the number. Similarly, you can block an SMS from a particular person by adding their phone number in the blacklist.
Google Voice App
This app offers you three options for blocking phone numbers:
Go to your phonebook, and select the check-box that's available right next to the name of your contact.
Then, select Edit Google Voice Settings, and click on when this contact calls you.
When you're done with this, you need to send the caller to the voicemail. This will allow your caller to at least leave you a message on your voicemail, if he/she is not able to converse with you.
Here, you can mark the caller as spam, and hence, your phone will not ring whenever this person calls you. Instead, if he leaves you a message, you will be prompted when the message is sent to your spam folder.
The third option is, you can directly block the caller by which, the caller will hear a message 'this number is not in service'. Also, in your missed calls, this number would appear as Blocked.
Amongst all the features in this app, an important one allows you to mark a message as spam if it is not required for you to hear it. You just have to Press the 8 key, and the number will be marked as spam for all future calls.
